How a high-sugar afternoon derails your deep sleep

When you eat a high-sugar meal or snack—think a pastry at 3 p.m., a candy bar, or that "healthy" granola bar coated in chocolate—your body responds with a rapid spike in blood glucose. Not everyone reacts the same way
Some people can eat a piece of cake at 9 p.m. and sleep like a log. Others feel wired after a single soda at lunch.
